55ft Cruiser Stern Narrowboat £46,995

Queen of Wands is a well-loved 55ft narrowboat built in 1991 by Pat Buckle. She was last blacked in 2023 and has a BSSC until March 2024. The versatile interior is bright and airy with painted panels and offers up to 6 berth accommodation. A hull survey from October 2023 is available on request. She would make an ideal starter boat for cruising holidays, or as a live-aboard. Viewing recommended. Mooring available by separate negotiation

Background

Built by Pat Buckle with 10/6/5/4mm steelwork cruiser stern and a taff rail. Forward cratch cover and a new rear pram cover. Original fit-out believed to have been by Pat Buckle with updates made by previous owners with painted pine T&G offering up to 6 berth accommodation. Powered by a BMC 1.8 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with a PRM 150 D2 gearbox.

From the Bow

From the bow which holds the integral water tank, there is a 3ft10in self-draining well deck with locker/seats to either side. There is a metal cratch frame with vinyl cover with clear panels.

Generic Fixtures and Fittings

The ceilings and cabin sides are lined with painted pine T&G with painted solid wood trims. Hull sides are lined with wall papered marine ply with solid wood trims. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. Flooring throughout is wood effect laminate.

Saloon 11ft 2in

Wooden glazed front doors open out onto the front deck with removable box step allowing access to an under-deck storage area.

Fixed Furniture: 1 x half height corner cupboard. Full height shelving unit beside the front doors.

Loose Furniture: Two seat sofa bed that converts into a double bed.

Other Features: Avtex TV with built in DVD player.

Heating: Solid fuel stove with back boiler set on a tiled hearth and surround. 1 x oil filled electric radiator.

Lighting: 2 x windows with top hopper openings and secondary glazing. 4 x 12v, LED ceiling lights.

Furniture: 4ft fixed double bed with storage space below. End of bed wardrobe with built in cupboards below. 1 x over-bed double cupboard. Over-bed shelving.

Suite: 4ft bath with a chrome mixer shower and a shower curtain. Vanity unit with inset wash basin, chrome taps and a cupboard beneath. Porta-Potti toilet with spare cassette. Wall mounted bathroom cabinet. Full height storage shelves.

Aft of the bathroom is the dinette.

Fixed Furniture: Raised pullman style dinette with padded bench seats. The dinette has storage space beneath the seats and converts into a double berth.

The walk-through galley has custom built units with pine shaker style doors with painted inserts. Worktops are solid wood block with full height ceramic tiled splash-backs.

Base units: 2 x double cupboards. 1 x double cupboard with drawers above. 1 x single cupboard with drawer above. 1 x full height cupboard. 1 x electrics cupboard. Cooker space. Fridge housing.

Wall Units : Pinnacle shelving unit.

Appliances: Slot in Flavel Milano gas cooker with separate grill and oven. 12v, Shoreline fridge with ice box. Morco gas fired instant water heater. Inset, stainless steel sink and drainer with chrome monobloc tap.

Lighting: 2 x windows with top hopper openings and secondary glazing. 2 x 12v, fluorescent ceiling lights. 2 x 12v, LED wall lights.

Power: 2 x 240v sockets and 2 x USB ports.

Cruiser Deck and Stern 7ft 4in

Steel rear doors, wood panelled internally with sliding roof hatch lead to the cruiser deck and steering position.
The engine is housed under the lift up floor panels of the cruiser deck. There are steel gas locker/seats to either side of the rear doors.

Controls: The column mounted single lever engine control is on the port side.

Other Features: Steel Taff rail. New pram cover.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a BMC 1.8 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with a PRM 150 D2 gearbox with 2:1 reduction turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck.
The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the 3 leisure batteries.

WATER
The integral steel water tank is located in the bow. Water pump with pressure switch is adjacent to the tank. Water is heated by the Morco gas fired instant water heater.

HEATING
Heating is provided by the solid fuel stove in the saloon. There are 3 oil filled electric radiators throughout the boat.

ELECTRICS
240v circuit from landline with RCD.
12v lights throughout protected by fuses.
1 x 12v, engine driven alternator.
1 x 12v, engine start battery.
3 x 12v, 105 amp/hr deep cycle leisure batteries.
2kw Victron Energy Multi-Plus inverter/charger.

GAS
1 x 13kg Propane cylinder housed in the stern locker, provides gas to the cooker and the gas fired water heater.

EXTERIOR FINISH
The exterior was last repainted in October by the owner. The boat was last docked for blacking in October 2023. The hull is protected by 6 anodes and a galvanic isolator.

The boat comes equipped with a normal cruising inventory including a full set of ropes and fenders. Any additional items not listed must be negotiated separately with the owner.
