Lion is a handsome 1991 51ft 4 berth narrow boat, built by Gary Gorton in 1991. Lion has well planned and beautifully presented accommodation and has been well loved and cared for by the current owners. She was last out of the water for blacking in November2020. Background

From the Bow

From the bow there is a 6 3 self draining well deck with gas locker to the front. There is a wooden cratch frame with windows to the front and a vinyl cover. The water tank is located beneath the bow deck. The headlamp is mounted on the front of the cratch.

Generic Fixtures and Fittings

The ceilings and cabin sides are lined with Pirana pine tongue and groove with solid Pirana pine trims. The hull sides are lined with carpet. All interior wood has been either varnished. There are curtains to all windows and portholes. The floor is laid with oak effect laminate in the saloon and galley and carpet on the corridor, bathroom and bedroom.

Saloon 9ft 7in

Steel front doors, ⅔ glazed and wood lined internally open out onto the front deck with removable steps down into the saloon. Access to under deck storage area.

Fixed Furniture: 2 x fixed sofas with storage below. The settees can be used as a dinette and also convert in to a double bed. Chairs. 1 x half height cupboard with built in radio/CD player. Shelves

The walk through galley has custom built wood effect laminate cupboards with shaker style doors and wood edged laminate worktops.

Appliances: Beko slot in gas cooker with separate oven and grill and a glazed lid/splash-back. Multi fuel (gas and electric) Electrolux fridge. Inset composite sink and drainer with chrome monobloc tap.

Steel rear doors, wood lined internally with sliding roof hatch lead to the rear deck and steering position.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a Perkins P3 marine, 3 cylinder, marine diesel engine coupled to a Newage PRM 160 gearbox with 2: 1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck.
The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the leisure batteries.

WATER
The integral steel water tank is located beneath the fore peak. Water pump with pressure switch is located adjacent to the tank. The water is heated by the engine heat exchanger.

HEATING
Heating is provided by the Hamlet Hardy solid fuel stove in the saloon and the Alde gas fired boiler running 2 radiators and a towel rail. (The Alde boiler will require recommissioning)

240v circuit from landline with RCD.
12v lights throughout protected by fuses.
1 x 12v, driven alternator.
1 x 12v, engine start battery.
3 x 12v, 110 amp/hr deep cycle leisure batteries.
