40ft Trad Stern Narrowboat Reduced £34,950

Albert Ross is a very handsome 1992 40ft 4 berth narrow boat, built by Mike Heywood and fitted out by the first owner. Albert Ross has well planned and beautifully presented accommodation and has been well loved and cared for by the current owners. He was last out of the water for blacking in December 2020. Background

Quality 10/6/4/mm steelwork with a wooden cratch frame with new cover and a trad stern by Mike Heywood. High quality fit-out by the first owner in pine tongue and groove offering 4 berth accommodation. Powered by a Thornicroft marine diesel engine with a PRM Delta hydraulic gearbox.

From the Bow

From the bow which holds the gas locker, there is a 4 self draining well deck. There is a wooden cratch frame with windows to the front and a new vinyl cover with clear side panels. The water tank is located below the well deck with surface mounted filler.

Generic Fixtures and Fittings

The ceilings are lined with pine tongue and groove. Cabin sides and hull sides are lined with painted plywood panels trimmed with solid light oak. All interior wood has been varnished or painted. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. Flooring is carpet tiles throughout.

Saloon 8ft 5in

Wooden ⅔ glazed front doors open out onto the well deck with steps down into the saloon.

Fixed Furniture: 1 x full height shelving unit. 1 x full height cupboard with hanging rail. Under gunwale cupboards. L shaped fixed sofa with storage below. The sofa covets into a double bed and can be used as a dinette with a table top with desmo leg.

Aft of the bedroom is the trad area where the engine is housed under the floor panels as well as all the electrical hardware for the running of the boat. Steel rear doors, wood lined internally with sliding roof hatch lead to the rear deck and steering position.

Controls: The single lever engine control is on the port side just inside the stern doors.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a Thorneycroft 20hp, 4 cylinder, marine diesel engine coupled to a PRM Delta hydraulic gearbox with 2: 1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck.
The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the 3 leisure batteries.

WATER
The water tank is located below the well deck. Water pump with pressure switch is located adjacent to the tank. water is heated by the engine heat exchanger and/or the 240v immersion heater.

HEATING
Heating is provided by the Heron solid fuel stove in the saloon with back boiler running one radiator.

ELECTRICS
240v circuit from landline with RCD.
12v lights throughout protected by fuses.
1 x 12v, engine driven alternator.
1 x 12v, engine start battery.
3 x 12v, deep cycle leisure battery.
Sterling ProPower Q 1800w quasi sine wave inverter. Nauticharger 12v battery charger.
1 x 340w solar panel with Victron MPPT solar charge controller

EXTERIOR FINISH
