Sold - 50ft Trad Stern Narrowboat £32,000

Springtime is a handsome three owner Mike Heywood trad stern narrowboat. The saloon features a comfortable sofa that converts to a double bed allowing for 4 berth accommodation. She has had a recent survey in July 2015 when she was also last docked for blacking. The roof was repainted in 2016, however, the rest of the boat would benefit from a repaint, and this has been reflected in the asking price. She has a Boat Safety Certificate valid until March 2020, so is good to go!


50ft Trad style narrow boat. Quality 10/6/4mm steelwork with front cratch and cover, side doors and a trad stern. Powered by a BMC 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder marine diesel engine with Hurth HBW125-2R mechanical gearbox . From the Bow

From the bow which holds the gas locker, there is a 4 9 self draining well deck with a wooden cratch frame which has windows to the front and a vinyl cover with clear panels. There are locker seats to either side of the well deck and a folding table. The integral steel twin water tanks are located below the well deck with a surface mounted fillers.

Generic fixtures and fittings

The ceilings, cabin sides and hull sides are lined with ash faced plywood trimmed with either solid oak or sapele trims. All interior wood has been varnished. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. Flooring throughout is carpet.

Saloon 11ft 7in

Hardwood, 1/2 glazed stable style front doors open out onto the front deck with storage steps down into the open plan saloon.

Loose Furniture: Large sofa bed that converts into a double bed. Drop leaf dining table with two folding chairs.

Steel rear doors, wood panelled internally with sliding roof hatch lead to the rear deck and steering position.

Controls: The single lever engine control is on the port side just inside the stern doors.

The boat is powered by a BMC 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder marine diesel engine with Hurth HBW 125-2R mechanical gearbox with 2:1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck. The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the 3 leisure batteries.


The 120 gallon twin integral steel steel water tanks are located beneath the well deck. Water pump with pressure switch is located adjacent to the tanks. Twin coil calorifier heated by the engine heat exchanger and/or the Mikuini diesel fired central heating boiler.


Heating is provided by the Morso solid fuel stove in the saloon and the Mikuni diesel fired central heating boiler running 3 radiators.


240v circuit from landline with RCD.

12v lights throughout protected by fuses.

1 x 12v, engine driven alternator.

1 x 12v, engine start battery.

3 x 12v, 110 amp/hr deep cycle leisure batteries.

2kw Heart Interface Freedom 20 inverter/charger.


2 x 13kg Propane cylinders housed in the bow locker provide gas to the oven, grill and hob.

The roof was professionally repainted in 2016 but the rest of the exterior paintwork would benefit from some attention. The boat was last docked for blacking in July 2015 and is protected by 4 anodes.


The boat comes equipped with the normal cruising inventory including ropes and fenders. Any additional items not listed must be negotiated separately with the owners.


The current moorings are available by separate negotiation.
