Sold - 55ft Trad Stern Narrowboat £44,995

Great Escape is a beautifully presented 55ft trad stern narrowboat by respected builders R&D Fabrications, and has been subject to a comprehensive series of upgrades to the interior. She benefits from have a full exterior repaint in November 2017 when she was also last docked for blacking. She has a Boat Safety Certificate valid until November 2020, so is good to go. She presents as an almost new boat both inside and out and viewing is highly recommended.

Background

55ft Trad stern narrow boat. Quality 10/6/4/mm steelwork with side doors, front cratch & cover and a trad stern with extra wide hatch by R&D Fabrications. High quality fit-out by R&D Fabrications, extensively refurbished by the last owner, in painted panels with oak trims offering comfortable 2-4 berth accommodation. Powered by a BMC 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder marine diesel engine with a PRM 150 hydraulic gearbox. The engine has had a full overhaul recently. BSSC to November 2020.

From the Bow

From the bow which holds the gas locker, there is a 3’ 7” self draining well deck with steel locker seats to either side. There is a wooden cratch frame with windows to the front and a vinyl cover. The integral steel water tank is located beneath the well deck with a surface mounted filler.

Generic fixtures and fittings

The ceilings and cabin sides are lined with painted plywood panels trimmed with solid light oak. The hull sides are lined with oak faced plywood trimmed with solid oak. All interior wood has been varnished. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. Flooring is oak planking throughout except to the galley which has tile effect vinyl and the bedroom which has carpet tiles.

Saloon 15′ 11″

Steel, ½ glazed front doors, wood lined internally open out onto the front deck with storage steps down into the saloon.
Fixed Furniture: 1 x half height corner cabinet with built in CD/radio player.
Loose Furniture: 2 x leather swivel/recline armchairs with foot stool. Bench style sofa that converts into a double berth and has storage space beneath. There is a fold out table used to form a dinette.
Heating: Morso solid fuel stove set on a ceramic tiled hearth and surround. 1 x central heating radiator.
Lighting: 4 x windows with top hopper opening vents. 6 x 12v, LED ceiling lights. 2 x 12v, wall lights.
Power: 4 x 240v sockets.

Galley 9′

The “U” shaped galley has custom built units with oak door and drawer fronts. Worktops are high gloss granite effect laminate with ceramic tiled splash-backs.
Base units: 1 x large cupboard that extends into the corner. 1 x single cupboard. 1 x 3 drawer unit. 1 x slim-line double cupboard. Cooker space. Fridge housing. Washing machine housing accessed from the saloon.
Wall Units: 1 x double Pinnacle cupboard with glazed doors. 1 x double cupboard with glazed doors.
Appliances: Slot in New world gas cooker. 12v, Shoreline fridge with separate freezer compartment. Indesit washer/dryer. Panasonic 800w microwave. Inset, heavy duty composite sink and separate drainer with chrome monobloc tap.
Lighting: 1 x window with top hopper opening vent. 1 x set of steel side doors, wood lined internally with inner glazed doors. 2 x 12v, LED ceiling lights.

The cabin shower room has a white suite comprising:
Suite: Quadrant shower enclosure with a thermostatic shower and glazed doors. Vanity unit with counter top ceramic wash basin, chrome monobloc tap and a cupboard beneath with glazed doors. Dometic cassette toilet with spare cassette.
Lighting: 1 x porthole with top hopper opening vent and privacy glass. 1 x 12v, halogen ceiling light.
Heating: 1 x chrome towel rail.

Aft area 4′ 2″ & Stern 3′ 2″

Aft of the bedroom is the trad area where the engine is housed under the floor panels as well as all the electrical hardware for the running of the boat. Steel rear doors, wood panelled internally with extra wide sliding roof hatch lead to the rear deck and steering position.
Controls: The single lever engine control is on the port side just inside the stern doors.
Storage: 1 x electrics cupboard. 1 x storage cupboard.
Lighting: 2 x fixed portholes. 1 x 12v, ceiling light.

Semi-trad Deck 4′ & Stern 3′ 3″

From the rear cabin, steel rear doors and sliding roof hatch, wood panelled internally lead to the semi-trad deck. The engine is housed under lift up floor panels. There are steel locker/seats to either side of the semi-trad deck. Steel stern doors, wood panelled internally lead to the rear deck and steering position.
Controls: The single lever engine control is just inside the stern doors on the port side.

WINDOWS, DOORS & HATCHES
Port side: 3 x windows with top hopper opening vents. 3 x portholes, one with top hopper opening vent.
Starboard side: 2 x windows with top hopper opening vents. 3 x fixed portholes. 1 x set of steel side doors, wood lined internally with glazed inner doors.
Front: Steel, ½ glazed front doors, wood lined internally.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a RMC 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder, marine diesel engine coupled to a PRM 150 hydraulic gearbox with 2:1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck. The engine powers twin 12v alternators to charge the start battery and the 4 leisure batteries.

WATER
The integral steel water tank is located beneath the well deck. Water pump with pressure switch is located under the front steps. Twin coil calorifier is heated by the 240v emersion heater, Webasto diesel fired boiler and/or the engine heat exchanger.

HEATING
Heating is provided by the Morso solid fuel stove in the saloon and the Webasto diesel fired boiler running 3 radiators.

240v circuit from landline with RCD.
12v lights throughout protected by fuses.

Complete exterior repaint in November 2017. The boat was last docked for blacking in November 2017. The hull is protected by 4 anodes and a galvanic isolator.

GAS
2 x Propane cylinders housed in the bow locker, provide gas to the oven, grill and hob.
