Blackbird is a lovely 40ft, narrowboat, built by Liverpool Boats in 1995 that has benefitted from a series of improvements by the current and previous owners. This includes an exterior re-paint in October 2020, updated cooker and fridge, re-conditioned gearbox, water heater service and an interior refresh. She was last out of the water for blacking in July 2024, when she also had new anodes. The BSSC expires in March 2028. Viewing recommended.

Quality steelwork believed to be 10/6/4mm by Liverpool Boats with a cruiser stern. Cratch and cover to the bow. Original quality fit-out by Liverpool Boats in painted pine T&G, with painted trims offering 2 berth accommodation easily extended to 4. Powered by a Lombardini 27hp, 3-cylinder diesel engine with a ZF gearbox.
From the Bow
From the bow there is a 5 self draining well deck. There is a wooden cratch frame with windows to the front and a vinyl cover with clear panels. There are locker seats to either side of the well deck. The integral steel water tank is located beneath the well deck with a surface mounted filler. The headlamp is mounted on the front of the cratch frame

The ceilings, hull sides and cabin sides are lined with painted pine T & G and painted wooden trims. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. The floor is laid with parquet throughout, apart from the bathroom which has vinyl.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a Lombardini 27hp, 3-cylinder diesel engine with a ZF gearbox with 2: 1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out from under the side deck.
The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the 3 leisure batteries.
WATER
The 500 litre integral steel water tank is located beneath the bow. Water pump with pressure switch is located adjacent to the tank. Water is heated by a Morco gas fired instant water heater.
HEATING
Heating is provided by the solid fuel stove in the saloon and 3 electric pipe heaters in the cabin.
