57ft 10in Trad Stern Narrowboat £70,000

Titan is a beautiful 57ft 10in, two-owner working boat style trad stern, built by the well-regarded Canal Transport Services and launched in 2012. She has a lovely refurbished 1960 3-cylinder Gardner engine in a separate engine room and a Boatman's style rear cabin. The BSSC expires in May 2029. She was last out of the water for blacking in July 2026. Viewing highly recommended.

Background

Quality steelwork built in 2006 by Canal Transport Service with a long fore deck, three sets of side doors (one with a top hatch) and a trad stern. There are two pigeon boxes and two bullseye skylights to the roof. Original quality fit-out by MG Boat fitters completed in 2012. Fit-out in solid ash T&G and ash faced ply with solid ash trims offering 5 berth accommodation to a traditional lay-out with traditional engine room and traditional Boatman's cabin. Powered by a lovely 1960 Gardner 42hp, 3-cylinder marine diesel engine with a Gardner gearbox. Speedwheel and push pull controls.

From the Bow

From the bow which houses the gas locker there is a 6 well deck with locker/seats to either side. The stainless steel water tank is located below the well deck with a surface mounted filler. The headlamp is mounted on the front bulkhead.

Generic Fixtures and Fittings

The ceilings and cabin sides are lined with sold ash T&G with solid ash trims. Hull sides are lined with ash faced ply with solid ash trims. All interior wood has been varnished. There are curtains or blinds to all windows. The flooring throughout is engineered oak planks, except the engine room which has metal checker plate and the bedroom and Boatmans cabin which have painted deck board.

Saloon 10ft 10in

Steel stable style front doors, wood lined internally and traditionally decorated open in to the saloon with a box step down into the saloon.

Fixed Furniture: L shaped fixed sofa/dinette with storage in the base. The sofa converts into a double bed. 2 x half height cupboards. Under gunwale bookcases. Wall mounted display shelves.

Loose Furniture: 1 x tabletop with desmo legs.

Power: 4 x 240v sockets.

Lighting: 4 x brass portholes with top openings. 4 x 12v, LED ceiling lights. 4 x 12v, LED wall lights.

Heating: Morso solid fuel stove with back boiler set on a tiled hearth and surround.

Galley 5ft 6in

The U shaped galley has hand-crafted ash cupboards with solid ash shaker style doors. Worktops are solid oak with ceramic tiled splash-backs.

Base units: 1 x large cupboard that extends into the corner. Cooker space. Fridge housing with draw above. Under gunwale slim-line cupboard and shelves.

Wall Units: Plate rack. 2 x single cupboards.

Appliances: Slot in Statesman gas cooker with lid/splash-back. 12v, Elite fridge with ice box (new in 2025). Inset, white enamel sink and drainer with matching monobloc tap.

Lighting: 1 x brass porthole with top opening. 1 x set of steel side doors, wood lined internally and traditionally decorated. 1 x pigeon box. 4 x 12v, LED ceiling lights.

Power: 2 x 240v sockets.

Bathroom 6ft 0in x 4ft 0in

The cabin bathroom has a white suite comprising:

Suite: 4 ceramic hip bath with mixer shower and shower curtain. Vanity unit with oak top and an ceramic inset wash basin, chrome taps and a cupboard beneath. Thetford cassette toilet with spare cassette.

Lighting: 1 x brass porthole with top opening and privacy glass. 1 x 12v, LED ceiling light.

Power: 1 x 12v, socket. 1 x shaver point.

Corridor Lighting : 1 x brass porthole with top opening.

Engine Room 7ft 4in

The traditional style engine room houses the 1960 Gardener 42hp, 3-cylinder marine diesel engine, coupled to a Gardener gearbox. All the other usual hardware for the running of the boat is also housed in this area.

Boatmans Cabin 7ft 2in

Aft of the engine room is the traditional style boatmans cabin which has traditional decoration and the usual fixtures and fittings.

Fixed Furniture: Padded bench seat with storage space underneath which can be used as a child berth. Angled table cupboard with drop down door/table and a cupboard beneath. Wardrobe and half height cupboard. Cupboard and ticket box on the aft bulkhead.

Heating: Torwood Dover Boatmans solid fuel stove (non-functioning)

Lighting: 2 x brass fixed portholes. 2 x 12v, LED wall lights. 1 x ceiling Bulls-eye.

Power: 1 x 12v socket. 2 x 240v sockets.

Stern 3ft 10in

Steel rear doors and sliding roof hatch, wood panelled internally and traditionally decorated lead to the rear deck and steering position.

Controls: Speedwheel and push pull engine controls.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The boat is powered by a 1960 Gardner 42hp, 3-cylinder marine diesel engine with a Gardner gearbox with 2: 1 reduction, turning the propeller. The exhaust is lagged, silenced and vents out through a chimney in the roof.
The engine powers a 12v alternator to charge the start battery and the 3 leisure batteries.

WATER
The 170 gallon stainless steel water tank is located beneath the well deck. Water pump with pressure switch is located adjacent to the tank. The water is heated by a gas fired Truma Boat Boiler and an immersion heater.

HEATING
Heating is provided by the Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove with back boiler in the saloon which runs one radiator and the Torwood Dover Boatmans solid fuel stove in the Boatmans cabin (non-functioning).

EXTERIOR FINISH
The exterior was painted by the builders in 2012. The boat was last docked for blacking in July 2026. The hull is protected by a galvanic isolator.

The boat comes equipped with a normal cruising inventory including a full set of ropes and fenders. Any additional items not listed must be negotiated separately with the owner.
